Published articles are findings or reflections of research activities or can be in the form of literature reviews that are disseminated to everyone, including academics and stakeholders.
Socialization in articles published by JTS is not limited to ideas, methods, and material objects, but also includes elements of capacity building for academics and stakeholders in identifying and solving various problems to develop Civil Engineering so that it is beneficial for everyone.
JTS covers topics related to science, analysis, development, intervention, modeling, and design in civil engineering which include;
(1) Construction and building materials (materials science and engineering, construction engineering, forensic engineering, construction management);
(2) Earthquake and structural engineering (structural engineering, earthquake engineering);
(3) Water Science and Engineering (water resources engineering, hydraulic engineering, water resources management, urban water, etc.);
(4) Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering;
(5) Transportation Engineering (traffic management, highway planning, highway pavement, port planning, airport planning, etc.);
(6) Environmental Engineering;
(7) Marine and Marine Engineering;
(8) Urban Engineering (Urban Planning, Urban Drainage) and
(9) Surveying Engineering (Soil Survey, Construction Surveying)
Peer Review Process
The peer review process can be broadly summarised as follows:
- Submission of Paper: Author uploads file to journal website and enters metadata for JTS Indexing
- Editorial Boards Assessment: The journal checks the paper"™s composition and arrangement against the journal"™s Author Guidelines to make sure it includes the required sections and stylizations. The quality of the paper is not assessed at this point.
- Appraisal by the Editor-in-Chief (EIC); The EIC checks that the paper is appropriate for the journal and is sufficiently original and interesting. If not, the paper may be rejected without being reviewed any further.
- EIC Assigns an Editorial Board (EB); At this stage, the EIC assigns the EB to handle the peer review, then the EB appoints a reviewer whose research interest is in accordance with the material from the article submitted by the author to review the article to be published in the journal. Reviewers are selected by EB from the list of reviewers on this website.
- Review is Conducted; The reviewer sets time aside to read the paper several times. The first read is used to form an initial impression of the work. If major problems are found at this stage, the reviewer may feel comfortable rejecting the paper without further work. Otherwise they will read the paper several more times, taking notes so as to build a detailed point-by-point review. The review is then submitted to the journal, with a recommendation to accept or reject it "“ or else with a request for revision (usually flagged as either major or minor) before it is reconsidered.
- Evaluation of review results from reviewers; The results of the reviews from the reviewers are re-evaluated by the editor who provides articles to the reviewers to be reviewed beforehand. The editor checks and considers whether the review results are appropriate. If the reviews between assigned reviews are different, editors who are members of the editorial board can return articles for review, or can immediately make improvements to the results of the reviews.
- Decision is Communicated; The editor sends a decision email to the author, including any relevant reviewer comments.
Publication Frequency
Dear Readers,
We are pleased to announce some updates to our publication schedule that will enhance your reading experience and provide more valuable content. Starting with the 2024 edition, we will implement a new publication schedule to ensure a consistent flow of articles while maintaining high quality.
If in Volume 22 JTS is published twice a year, in June and December, then, in Volume 23, 2023, JTS is published four times per year, on February 28, May 28, August 28, and November 28, with each issue containing five to nineteen articles in English, then, starting in 2024, academic research articles authored by various contributors will be released quarterly, specifically in the February, May, August, and November editions. For the February Edition, articles will be unveiled gradually from February 28th to May 27th; for the May edition, articles will be progressively unveiled from May 28th to August 27th; for the August edition, articles will be revealed gradually from August 28th to November 27th, and for the November edition, articles will be progressively released from November 28th to February 27th of the following year. This adjustment is due to heightened scrutiny from reviewers and editorial boards, resulting in a meticulous selection process to ensure that only high-quality articles are published through rigorous peer review. Each edition will feature a total of 19 articles in English.
The deadline for submission is one month before the publication date, so for the February issue, articles must have been submitted by 28 January, May, by 28 April, August by 28 July, and November by 28 October.
We hope to provide quality articles, more regular publishing, and diverse topics with this update. We are therefore committed to presenting various quality topics covering a wide range of interests in Civil Engineering and their applications that may be used in other fields, thus proving that knowledge in Civil Engineering can be well integrated with different fields.
We value your feedback and encourage you to actively participate in the discussion by leaving comments and sharing the article with your friends. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm. We are dedicated to providing valuable and quality articles to enrich you. We look forward to starting this journey with you. Stay tuned for our articles in every issue.
